Batik Presentation

We finally got our batik and everyone did a pretty good job.

And we presented it during class as to explain the reason of the chosen concept and color scheme.

My group's batik (Lisa, Ajiem, Denny, Sam):

Zuliana, Rosey, Aina, and Li Wei's batik:

Zachary, Doreen, Eevon, Song Da's batik:

 Aliff, Kush, Alya, Jun's batik:

 Ilona, Priya, Andrew, Hussain's batik:

 Ashley, Clarin, Evelynn, Nelson's batik:

Audrey, Hoi Jun, Syamim, Lina's batik:

From this exercise, I was able to learn that precision doesn't always brings out the best of our work, sometimes a little bit of uncertainty and 'chaos' will result in surprising yet satisfying piece of work.

Batik Assignment Trip

For our last group assignment, we were assign to come up with a shared theme batik of 4. For this assignment, Ms.Lisa has arranged a trip to a batik factory, Jadi Batik. Just a day before the trip, me and my group mates has come up with a theme for our batik, namely Old Disney Character and implement the color and pattern of the stain glass.

At the day of the trip:

Arrival at Jadi Batik

We got down from the bus and went right into the workshop, before we started, the worker explain and did some demonstration on how to use the canting.

After that, the guide showed us the wax and color that were provided for us.

Execution of waxing and applying the colors.

After we completed the batik, the batik will have to go through a process of washing and drying, because of that we are not allowed to bring it home, but the workers will send it to us after the washing and drying process is done.

What I was able to learn from this trip is the skill of using wax as a medium and also the method of mixing and blending color a more advanced way. I trust that these skills will be a help in the future.
